Synology CC410W camera overview

It has been three years since Synology rolled out its first batch of branded surveillance cameras, starting with BC500 and TC500 in early 2023. Later that year, they followed with a light, wifi camera aimed at home or small home office setups, called the CC400W.

Following the two PoE cameras from 2023, Synology is rolling out its first wifi-only license-free indoor model, the CC400W #Synology #surveillance

That particular model, compared to its larger and more capable counterparts, offered a quick and easy installation process followed by a short wizard-friendly configuration, allowing anyone to get up and running in a matter of minutes.

About a month ago, Synology also presented the next generation of the original bullet and turret models, which, on both the surface and internal hardware, have made little to no visible updates and changes.

Refreshed #Synology camera models for 2026 bring the same hardware but with one important licensing change

This time around, we have the successor to this smallest member of the surveillance camera lineup, the new CC410W.

Same familiar design as its predecessor, the new CC410W

From the hardware side, the second-generation model is identical to the CC400W camera in every way. The CC410W is still a 4MP Wi-Fi camera that enables seamless connectivity without the need for complex wiring. It provides crisp, high-resolution HDR video at 2560x1440, with a smooth 30 FPS, and features a wide 125-degree field of view. It is weatherproof with an IP65 rating and includes two-way audio for immediate communication.

Optical technical specifications

  • Lens: 2.12 mm (125° H, 72° V, 145° D)
  • Aperture: F2.0
  • Night vision: 10 meters
  • Maximum AI detection distance: 7 meters
  • Shutter speed: 1/16000 s~1/30 s
  • DORI: D: 45m, O: 18m, R: 9m, I: 4.5m

In fact, the main difference from the previous model can be seen in two elements. First, the TAA compliance. Referring to the Trade Agreements Act, allowing Synology to sell this camera in the US, and second, the license changes.

Dual Band Wi-Fi
Supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks

So far, the first generation of Synology cameras did not require a license to run on a Synology NAS with Surveillance Station, or its DVA lineup models. However, this has changed in 2026 with the 510 and 410W models (as well as the upcoming BC800Z).

🚨
All of these models now require and count against an SVS license on said devices, just like any other 3rd party supported camera model.

This also means that all supported on-device AI features are also supported, like people and vehicle detection, intrusion detection, and instant search.

Being identical to the previous model, also means that the installation can be done using the provider screws for wall or ceiling mounting, or we can take advantage of the magnetic base and attach the camera to any metal surface.

Magnetic base allows for an easy and quick installation on any magnetic surface
Installation, as before, is done via the DSCam mobile app

Quick and easy configuration, as expected, is done via a free mobile DSCam app, allowing us to add as many cameras as needed. The CC410W also supports on-device recording via a microSD card that can be installed, allowing for continuous recording in case there are any local or remote network issues.

CC410W is also compatible with the cloud based VSaaS service, called Surveillance 365

Security and Compliance
Suitable for sensitive applications thanks to US NDAA & TAA compliance

While we can use this particular model with Surveilance Station package on almost any Synology NAS model, the recent BeeStation Plus soho product also supports NVR capabilities thanks to its latest BSM 1.5 update, and the release of the BeeCamera mobile app.

Synology BeeCamera Mobile - turn your BeeStation Plus into an NVR
Can #Synology #CC400W camera and #Beestation Plus offer a decent #surveillance solution with a new #BeeCamera Mobile app?

Both the older and this new generation model support the BeeCamera setup

This means that the configuration of said camera can be done via the BeeCamera mobile app and a plus version of the BeeStation device, offering the same capabilities as with the SVS platform, but on a cheaper and smaller NAS device. Of course, the CC410W can also be used in combination with other 3rd party NVR or VMS platforms using the standard ONVIF protocol.
