🚨
NOTE: This article will contain upcoming new information on some popular devices (and the rest of the hardware) that Synology will release by the end of the year and well into 2025.

Time sure flies fast, and considering that we are already in May of 2024, it is only a matter of time before the new upcoming device with an x25 model number will start to show up.

At the moment there is not a single device that has the x25 mark, and most of the two and four-bay models have been refreshed in 2023, in the following year we can expect some six and/or eight-bay models to show up, as well as some rack models that are in high demand.

Will we see the new RS1225 it is hard to tell (not likely by the looks of it at the moment), but if there will be a new model, we will sure have it for review as well as any other interesting new or refreshed device.

For now, let's wait and see, and this article will be updated as new information starts to come to light.

UPDATE: 12/07/2024 - Potentially new 8-bay DS1825+ refresh is upon us this year around

While no official information is available now, it looks like following the presentation of new DP models and APM, Synology might start to refresh certain DS models.

Mainly from some reddit leaks it looks like that DS1825+ could be coming out by the end of this year. If it will have the x25 mark that means that also it could arrive sometime in 2026 as well.

Speaking of 1825+ and its refresh, this could also mean that DS1625+ might arrive as those models usually are identically specced apart from the number of bays.

Specifications are still unknown for the DS1825+ but we could see another AMD-packed NAS as its predecessor the DS1821+ just in a newer version. Considering it has been over 4 years since its refresh it could mean that maybe new expansion units will arrive as well as the last compatible one is DX517.

While the DX517 still supports X23 models, maybe that will not be the case, but pushing 8 years of support for an expansion model does seem a bit too much, even for Synology (and we know how they like to repurpose CPU architecture).

In any event, we will keep our eyes open for any new news and hands-on tests soon.
