Synology C2 cloud service changes for 2026
It has been a year since there was any major news on Synology C2 cloud front, apart from their release of new surveillance cameras. On 2025 Computex expo, the company announced its upcoming VSaaS called C2 Surveillance, but that is yet to be available for customers.

Regarding the rest of their lineup, Synology has announced several upcoming changes affecting multiple services. Some will be deprecated, some will be rebranded, and some will change in terms of pricing and capacity.
Most of the content will be pulled from the official notice that customers have recieved as well as up-to-date information from Synology's knowledge center.
What's changing?
New C2 OneStorage: A new plan that consolidates multiple cloud/hybrid storage services (such as C2 Storage, C2 Object Storage) into a single storage solution.
Pricing Adjustments: We are updating subscription tiers to support ongoing development and new features.
Plans Discontinuation: Free plans and certain services (such as C2 Password, C2 Transfer) will no longer be available. To facilitate a smooth transition, we are providing a 1-year grace period for any current account.
Let's start with the most important elements that will undergo changes but remain active as a service.
C2 OneStorage
Effective June 22, 2026, the subscription model for C2 Storage will transition to C2 OneStorage. C2 OneStorage provides a single storage pool shared across multiple cloud and hybrid storage services, including C2 Storage and C2 Object Storage.
What this means is that C2 OneStorage will use a unified plan structure and no longer distinguish between Basic and Advanced plans. Existing Basic plan users will transition to C2 OneStorage based on their current capacity:
- 100 GB or 300 GB subscribers: You will transition to the C2 OneStorage 300 GB plan.
- 1 TB subscribers: You will transition to the C2 OneStorage 1 TB plan.
As of now, Synology has not announced the new OneStorage pricing, but this information should be known in one month's time.
The conversion timeline for C2 OneStorage will affect new and existing subscribers slightly differently.
For new subscribers
Starting June 22, 2026, legacy C2 Storage standalone plans will no longer be available. New users must subscribe to C2 OneStorage to use hybrid cloud storage services (e.g., Hybrid Share, Hyper Backup)
For existing paid subscribers
Conversion for existing paid subscribers takes place in two phases:
- Phase 1: Transition period (from June 22, 2026 to December 22, 2026)
- No changes: You can still renew your current legacy plan until December 22, 2026.
- Plan changes: If you need to modify your storage capacity after June 22, 2026, you must convert to a C2 OneStorage plan immediately.
- Cost adjustments: If you convert to an equivalent storage capacity or the new minimum capacity (300 GB), you will not be charged any price difference during the transition. If you upgrade your storage capacity during conversion, the price difference between the plans will be calculated and charged at that time.
- Phase 2: Mandatory conversion (starting December 22, 2026)
- After December 22, 2026, all legacy plans with auto-renewal will be converted to C2 OneStorage.
Consolidation of multiple services
Following conversion, subscriptions for C2 Object Storage and C2 Storage will be unified under C2 OneStorage. If you subscribe to both services, your plans will be consolidated into a single subscription upon conversion:
- C2 Storage + C2 Object Storage (paid plan): Your new capacity will be the sum of the capacities from both original plans. The validity period will be extended to match the longer one of the two services.
- C2 Storage + C2 Object Storage (Free plan): Your new plan will be based on your C2 Storage capacity and cycle only. The 15 GB free quota from C2 Object Storage will be removed upon conversion.
C2 Object Storage plan changes
Similar to the C2 Storage changes, the C2 Object Storage plan also has some similar updates, but its free 15GB plan has a small change.

For new subscribers
Starting June 22, 2026, legacy C2 Object Storage standalone plans will no longer be available. New users must subscribe to C2 OneStorage to use object storage services.
- Cost adjustments: If you convert to an equivalent storage capacity, you will not be charged any price difference during the transition.
For Free plan users
- Service end date: You may continue to use the free service until June 22, 2027, after which the Free plan's subscriptions or licenses will be terminated.
- Users on the Free plan will not be converted to C2 OneStorage unless manually upgraded
Apart from these two C2 services, there are also changes with C2 Password and C2 Transfer. These two services have been flagged as EOL and will be deprecated on June 22nd, 2027.
C2 Password EOL
C2 Password will reach end of life (EOL) on June 22, 2027. After this date, the service will no longer be available.

Impact on users
Starting June 22, 2026, new subscriptions can no longer be purchased. For details about access and renewals, see your subscription type below:
C2 Password Plus
You can continue using the service until your current subscription expires. Renewals are available until December 22, 2026.
C2 Identity Business
- If you don't have auto-renew enabled, C2 Password remains accessible until your current plan expires.
- If auto-renew is enabled, changing your storage quota between June 22 and December 22, 2026, will automatically convert your plan to the new C2 Identity plan. C2 Password is not included in the new plan. If no changes are made during this period, the conversion will occur on December 22, 2026.
C2 Password Free
You can continue using the service until the EOL date of June 22, 2027.
How to prepare
Export your vault data before your plan reaches its EOL date.
C2 Transfer EOL
Similar to C2 Password, C2 Transfer will stop accepting new subscriptions starting June 1, 2026. The service will reach end of life (EOL) on June 22, 2027, after which C2 Transfer will no longer be available.
Impact on users
C2 Transfer Professional and Business users
- Plan modifications (upgrades, downgrades, and billing changes) are no longer available after June 22, 2026.
- Renewal is available until December 22, 2026. After this date, you can continue using the service until your current subscription expires.
C2 Transfer Free users
- You can continue using the service until June 22, 2027, as long as your subscription remains active.
- If you cancel your subscription after June 22, 2027, you will be unable to re-subscribe to C2 Transfer.
To ensure continued access to your data stored in C2 Transfer, we recommend taking the following actions:
- Download and back up files: Ensure all files stored in C2 Transfer are downloaded and securely backed up to another storage location.
- Review shared links: Check any active transfer tasks that rely on C2 Transfer and plan alternative ways to share files, as these links will expire after the service ends.
- Complete migration: Finalize data migration before the EOL date or your subscription expiration to avoid loss of access.
Synology Active Insight price changes
Finally, we have price changes coming to Synology's PaaS monitoring and alert platform, the Active Insight.

So far, the platform has been partially free (up to three (3) hosts), but after June 22nd, 2027, complimentary licenses will no longer be an option, and all hosts will be converted to a paid plan.
Pricing updates
Under the new pricing model, a subscribed license is available at 29.99 USD per host per year. Please note that new subscriptions will no longer include the 3 complimentary licenses.
Conversion timeline
The following timeline explains how the updated pricing will apply to new subscriptions and when existing subscriptions will be converted.

For users with subscribed licenses

- No changes: You may continue to renew your current subscription with your existing license quantity during the transition period until December 22, 2026.
- License modifications: If you need to change your license quantity anytime after June 22, 2026, you must convert to the new pricing model immediately.
