Synology at Computex 2026

For Synology, Computex is "the" ultimate yearly expo, and because of it, it is no wonder they leave all their major announcements for the summer. While new hardware, software, and services might not be released for a few more quarters, this does not stop Synology from showing them off at one of the world's largest expos in their native Taipei.

This year, the expo is running from June 2nd to June 5th, and Synology's rather large booth is full of new and upcoming devices. So, if you are there, be sure to visit booth number J0102 in hall 1, every day from 09:30 to 17:30 local time.

Something for everyone

In the past few years, Synology has been on an enterprise path, closing off, expanding its portfolio, and catering to large businesses with both hardware and software, but it has not forgotten the SOHO and enthusiast segment. Just last year, a large number of desktop NAS models were refreshed, and while most got modest upgrades, it still goes to show that this market segment and its customers are important to Synology in the long run.

To back that up, this year's expo, Synology will be introducing new models in their entry BeeStation segment, by rolling out two 4TB models. A revision of its initial BeeStation model, now with 2GB of RAM, as well as another BeeStation Plus model for a more demanding workload.

The upgraded 4T BeeStation model has been known for a while, but Synology chose to officially show it off at the expo. Remaining at its current price point with an upgraded RAM, this 1-bay SOHO device will prove even more as an excellent purchase for anyone looking for a turn-key solution for backup, sharing, and data sync. Business and enterprise updates - new models

As previously said, Synology has been on a new path for a while. A path that leads to large-scale business, brutal uptime, and both fast and large storage solutions.

To satisfy that demand, Synology has released more than a few new and refreshed RS and FS models before this expo, as well as first of its kind for Synology, a brand-new all NVMe active-active solution.

Some of these models are new, some are still to come, and most of them are being prepared for what's to come with the rollout of the new DSM 7.4 later in June.

As expected, looking at the specifications of all these new RS and FS models, one could tell that AI demand is on the rise, and Synology intends to follow it by introducing GPU compatibility among all of the new 2026 2U rack models.

Some soon-to-be-announced and released models will also be replacing the current SA lineup in the near future, moving to an AMD EPYC-powered RS model like the RS11626xs+. This model will arrive with an EPYC 7307 CPU, 64GB of RAM, a dual 10GbE LAN solution as the default, and a dual M.2 system drive setup.

In case that is not enough, the refreshed FS segment has a few models that have been updated and offer a more modern and simplified setup, while offering more power. Coupled with new DSM 7.4 features, these all-flash units will provide more than enough for the most demanding enterprise environments.

Speaking of demanding enterprises, there are always those that need more. More power, more redundancy, more capabilities. Because of those, Synology has finally rolled out its first PAS model, the PAS7700. The crown jewel of the new active-active NVMe compute unit.

Not designed for storage, but for high and intensive workloads with zero downtime, and all the benefits this new model has to offer. Powered with a custom version of DSM Enterprise, the PAS7700 is pushing the boundaries of what Synology wants for its customers while keeping the price very competitive.

So far, we have mentioned mostly general-purpose NAS solutions as well as a pure compute one, but Synology is also updating its DataProtection lineup, specifically, its Active Protect Manager OS. With version 1.2 and the upcoming 2.0, Synology is introducing some new features to this turn-key backup appliance segment.

The key highlights for the APM platform are better support for more local and cloud platforms like Google Workspace, Azure or AWS as IaaS, and more hypervisors. Apart from Hyper-V and VMWare, APM will be compatible with Proxmox and Nutanix as well.

DSM 7.4 - foundation for core AI features and agentic future

Probably the most key element of this year's updates is the OS. After all, OS is the one running the show in all machines, and because of it, Synology will be rolling out DSM 7.4 during the summer of 2026. Efficiency updates, as well as new support for GPU-powered NAS models, will finally unleash AI functionalities beyond the generative AI that we have come to know for the past few years.

Agentic platform is the future of DSM

The idea is to introduce AI-capabilities on a deeper level than ever before for both packages as well as core DSM elements. Because of it, the upcoming Synology Drive 4.1 will be capable of OCR, image, and video analysis to allow for semantic interaction using natural language, offering the end user ease of use and full AI-power that the ecosystem can offer.

Support for NVIDIA GPUs will be the backbone of AI-powered Synology devices

For this to work on all Synology recent and compatible models, the company will also introduce some new AI-specific NAS solutions, but those will probably have to wait for the 2027 Computex expo. In the meantime, the evolution of AI models will allow for more granular capabilities on various Synology models, so that no matter what device we are using, we will have some degree of artificial assistance. Be it web search, image analysis, OCR, or the new DSM Agent integration.

Speaking of AI on the DSM level, looks like Synology has decided to implement agentic support in its OS to help administrators navigate and utilize some repetitive tasks by utilizing on-device hardware and software solutions powered by both online and local models.

To prove how serious they are, Synology is also rolling out a dedicated desktop AI app, called Deep Search. Those familiar with their BeeDrive device will know where this is coming from.

While it was so far exclusive for the BeeDrive desktop app, Deep Search has now been rebranded and published as a commercial macOS and Windows desktop app, allowing for a local AI model to assist in those most common tasks, finding what you are looking for.

This will by no means be a Codex or Claude replacement, no, Deep Search will allow for local text, image, and prople search across allowed content by the user to help with those mountains of data sitting in a single folder somewhere on your computer.

With a 30-day trial and a one-time price of $50.00, Deep Search could be a solution for those who do not need an agent-like AI roaming their network or computer, but still does the job of finding things.

Surveillance and a new Access control system

One last big chunk of news is Synology's surveillance ecosystem. A complete division dedicated to cameras, DVA's, and cloud-based solutions, this year will get a few more additions.

Starting with physical protection and access control. Synology has unveiled a new in-house developed ACS system with the introduction of a new controller and access reader devices.

On top of that, we can expect some new and more modern DVA models as well. The first rack-based DVA7400 model will be a GPU-powered and AI-featured model capable of handling up to 100 cameras with a large number of deep analytics tasks.

Along with it, a desktop successor to the current DVA3121 will be an updated DVA3000. Upgraded from a 4-bay to a 6-bay enclosure, this i3-powered device will also be optimized for many AI-assisted tasks and support up to 40 cameras.

Upcoming new DVA models, DVA7400 and DVA3000

These changes will also be followed by multiple new features inside Surveillance Station, such as 3rd party web page integration, anew Event Center, and support for new and refreshed cameras.

Synology will be introducing a new series 10 for their current bullet, turrent and wifi models (BC510, TC510, CC410W), as well as some new dome models, like the DC500Z, DC800, and DC400.

New upcoming DC500Z dome camera

While all Synology camera models will support Surveillance Station as expected, the company is also working on its cloud surveillance VSaaS called Surveillance 365.

Capable of fully supporting any number of on-premise cameras, the Surveillance 365 utilizes on-camera microSD card support, as well as a cloud storage option using the new C2 OneStorage offering. Now with over 17.000 camera models and 195 vendors, there is almost no camera in the world that is not compatible with Synology's surveillance system.

For more details on all these new products and features, be sure to check the linked articles, and for those who are fortunate to be in Taipei, visit the booth and check out all the content that Synology has prepared for you on site.

In short, Synology is still moving along its set path to offer more business and enterprise-grade hardware, software, and services, but also keeping its toes in the shallow end of the pool. SOHO and mid-range customers still have plenty to choose from, and while the standard has moved towards a more closed ecosystem, the security, stability, and new feature offerings are rising. True, that comes usually with a price, but in today's crazy world, how much is your data and privacy worth?
